Presentation Title: DBA vs Developer Roundtable
Speaker: Mr Martin Widlake Oracle ACE Director OakTable
Company: ORA-600
Co-presenter: Neil Chandler - Chandler Systems
Jeremy Duggan - Griffiths Waite
Presentation abstract: The data in the corporate systems is vital and needs to be protected - including against developers who produce code that damages it.

Critical software development is often hindered by DBAs who are overly protective of their role and yet often do not understand what the application code does. It is not "their" data.

We have had this division of roles for as long as we have had more than 1 manual for Oracle. Is it an inevitable (and required) situation, where the two groups have specific skill sets and they keep each other "honest", or is it a glass wall that should never exist?

Round off the day before the evening social with what should be a lively debate.
